Universal To Remake South African Crime Thriller 'iNumber Number'

South Africa, writer-director Donovan Marsh's crime thriller iNumber Number is slated for a remake. The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Universal Pictures has acquired the rights to do just that.

The South African crime movie premièred at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival, which centers on an “honest undercover officer who, after he’s cheated from a major promotion, crosses over from cop to robber in order to orchestrate a major heist that he hopes will be a one-way ticket to easy street. Things go awry when the gang discovers his true identity and take his partner hostage. Marsh will neither write nor direct the remake; Universal is looking for a new writer.

Check out the film’s original trailer below:

The new take on iNumber Number will be produced by Chris Morgan (the writer of the Fast & Furious films), his partner Emile Gladstone and Aram Tertzakian (XYZ Films). Nate Bolotin and Nick Spicer are attached to executive produce.
Here is the synopsis for iNumber Number:
Adroitly written and directed by South African filmmaker Donovan Marsh, this action-packed heist thriller - about a pair of cops battling corrupt colleagues as well as a gang of armoured-car thieves - boasts an oddball cast that brings comic relief to the ruthless thuggery.
